Job Description
Summary of Primary Job Functions The Peer Services Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination of the Peer Services Program for The Recovery Outreach and Community Center in Oneonta, NY. The Coordinator is responsible for the development and maintenance of a supportive structure for those providing Peer Services, as well as for those receiving this form of recovery support. This position reports to the Executive Director and Assistant Director. Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to the following: All Line Staff Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps and motivates "members," staff, interns and volunteers Seek to collaborate in every interaction with community providers and the recovery community First person arriving for the business day opens the center, checks voicemail, and ensures building is clean and ready for operation Answer phones as a backup when needed Welcome guests and "members," maintaining the daily sign-in sheets Document daily activities and services provided Last person to leave for the business day locks all offices, files and doors As assigned, open the center in advance of special events and/or scheduled meetings Function as facility's contact between the groups and individuals using the facilities, reporting any incidents/problems to the Executive Director Serve as a peer in a variety of capacities, including ROES and Recovery Couching Conduct intake of new "members" Provide transportation to "members" as needed Provide information and referral to "members," service providers, and the community at large as requested Adhere to the approved budget, inventorying, and management of supplies Attend community meetings/events representing Turning Point as assigned Attend trainings as assigned Specific to Peer Services Coordinator General Recruit and select peers to provide peer services Develop and monitor a screening process for potential Peers Coordinate Peers (staff and volunteers) schedules, and determine Peer-Participant matches Monitor the development and maintenance of recovery priorities and documentation, and review of participant progress Provide supervision around issues of boundaries, role clarity, potential referrals, and personal comfort Conduct regularly scheduled Peer Services team meetings Provide monthly reports to Executive Director Ensure privacy and confidentiality of Peer information by maintaining and enforcing ethical guidelines Provide Peer Services as needed Additional job duties as assigned by Executive Director Policies and Procedures Assist Executive Director in developing policies and procedures for the Peer Services Program Ensure all FOR-DO policies and procedures are adhered to Qualifications Required Commitment to obtaining certification as a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) within six months of employment (FOR-DO will provide training/certification requirements) Have a personal understanding of the disease of addiction and recovery Commitment to support the mission of the organization, clubhouses and recovery centers, and a desire to work with the recovery community Recognize that there are many pathways to Recovery, be non-judgmental Ability to provide culturally competent peer services Must be organized, be able to multitask and have good communication skills Have excellent people skills that build rapport and put others at ease Must have knowledge of community resources Ability to work as a team or individually Possess knowledge of Microsoft Office products Flexible availability is essential. Must be able to work some evening and weekend hours Must have valid NYS Driver's License Preferred Minimum of an Associate's Degree, preferably in Human/Social Services, or be a qualified health professional, i.e., registered nurse, CASAC or
