Job Description

Casting Equity actors for roles in "Petticoats of Steel." No roles will be understudied.
Synopsis:
"Petticoats of Steel" is a play-within-a-play in which two female-identifying actors, Kimberly and Iris, meet in front of an audience gathered to see a play about women's suffrage. Kimberly has performed this play many times with another actor named Judy. To her surprise, Kimberly learns that Judy has called out sick and her agent has sent a younger actor named Iris to take her place. Although Iris is new to the play, she soon brings a fresh and fiery perspective to the material. Drawn from primary sources, the scenes explore the true stories of New York women and their efforts to win voting rights for all women in the United States. The show moves chronologically from the early 1830's through the passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920. For close to twenty years, Capital Repertory Theatre's TYA On-The Go! in-school touring productions have been presented in a variety of schools and venues throughout the Capital Region to very diverse audiences. Actors should enjoy performing for and interacting with young audiences (middle and high school students). There are post-show discussions after every performance (time permitting). Actors must also be collegial and adaptive. There are no overnight stays on the tour. The TYA work week is Monday - Saturday.
