Job Description
Job Summary The Mascot Performer embodies the college's spirit and identity by bringing the mascot character to life at campus, community, and recruitment events. This role focuses on energizing audiences, promoting school pride, and creating memorable experiences through engaging performances, signature routines, and interactive gestures. The performer represents the college with enthusiasm and professionalism while ensuring the mascot costume is properly cared for and safely managed. Please note that you must be a TCC student with federal workstudy funds to be eligible for this position. Essential Duties Wear the mascot costume, or act as the handler, and perform at college-sponsored events, including recruitment activities, campus celebrations, commencements, and community appearances. Create and perform signature gestures, skits, or routines that enhance audience engagement. Interact with students, children, alumni, and community members in a positive, energetic, and friendly manner. Promote school spirit during athletic, academic, and community events. Participate in photo opportunities and support event programming as requested. Represent the college with professionalism, enthusiasm, and respect for various audiences. Collaborate with mascot/handler and Student Life staff to coordinate appearances and performances. Assist with transporting, maintaining, and properly caring for the mascot costume. Follow all safety guidelines while performing in costume, including hydration and rest breaks. Track hours and appearances and report scheduling conflicts in advance. Recommending creative performance ideas, skits, or engagement strategies that increase audience interaction and school spirit. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience. Outgoing, energetic personality with strong communication and improvisational skills. Reliability, punctuality, and strong sense of responsibility. Able to lift/carry up to 25 pounds and withstand outdoor conditions (heat/cold) while in costume. Able to perform in costume, including standing, walking, dancing and interacting with crowds for extended periods of time. Being available for evenings and weekends to attend recruitment and other special events. If enrolled at TCC (or another institution), must maintain good standing. Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent education. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience. Prior performance, theater, dance, or cheer experience a plus.
