Full-Time Staff Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) is seeking a highly organized, engaging, and people-focused professional to serve as a Standardized Patient (SP) Educator in Knoxville. The SP Educator is responsible for recruiting, training, coaching, and coordinating individuals who portray patients during healthcare student clinical simulations. This position plays an important role in creating realistic, consistent patient encounters that help prepare future healthcare professionals for clinical practice. Key Responsibilities Recruit, interview, onboard, and train Standardized Patients (SPs) Lead case training, role-play modeling, and coaching sessions to ensure accurate and consistent patient portrayals Coordinate the flow of students and SPs during clinical examinations and assessments Prepare exam rooms, paperwork, props, and digital checklists for simulation activities Provide ongoing feedback and performance evaluations for SPs Track SP hours, payroll information, and required administrative documentation Work closely with faculty and program leadership to ensure simulations follow established case guidelines, checklists, and educational objectives Maintain a reliable and well-trained pool of Standardized Patients Assist with quality assurance and consistency across simulated patient encounters Travel between university locations and regional campuses as needed Participate in professional development related to healthcare simulation and standardized patient education
Qualifications Required:
Ability to obtain the Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) credential through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare within two years of hire
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in education, theater, healthcare, communication, or a related area Experience in instructional training, corporate coaching, acting instruction, clinical skills education, or a related field Experience working within an accredited health professions program Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and enjoy teaching and coaching others. This position requires excellent organizational skills, professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate multiple people and activities during complex clinical simulation events.
