We are in the early stages of building our performance teams and are looking for someone excited about the opportunity to help shape their movement, performance style, and identity from the ground up. The Lead Choreographer will work closely with the Founder/Creative Director to create original choreography, lead rehearsals, develop dancers, and prepare teams for performances, showcases, competitions, and future media opportunities. This is a part-time, project/rehearsal-based paid position with the opportunity to grow as the academy expands. Responsibilities Create original, performance-ready choreography for youth and adult dancers. Lead choreography rehearsals and teach combinations clearly and effectively. Clean routines, formations, transitions, timing, musicality, and performance quality. Adapt choreography appropriately for different ages and skill levels. Help dancers improve confidence, stage presence, technique, and execution. Collaborate with the Founder/Creative Director on music, concepts, performance direction, and the overall vision of each routine. Help prepare dancers for performances, showcases, competitions, auditions, and filmed content. Maintain a positive, encouraging, disciplined, and professional rehearsal environment. Provide constructive corrections while helping dancers reach their individual potential. Assist in developing a recognizable performance style for the Dance Division. What We're Looking For Strong experience in hip-hop/commercial dance and jazz is preferred. Experience in contemporary, lyrical, majorette, heels, or other performance styles is a plus. We're especially interested in someone who: Has previous choreography and/or dance teaching experience. Can confidently lead a rehearsal. Is comfortable working with both youth and adult dancers. Understands musicality, formations, transitions, staging, and performance quality. Is dependable, patient, creative, and professional. Can collaborate rather than needing complete creative control. Brings fresh ideas and isn't afraid to create something new. Has a genuine interest in helping build a new performing arts organization from its beginning. A college degree is not required. Talent, leadership ability, professionalism, teaching ability, and choreography experience matter more to us than formal credentials. Applicants should be prepared to provide examples of previous choreography and/or dance performance work. Selected candidates may be invited to participate in a paid working audition or choreography session before a final selection is made.
