Dance Instructor and Choreographer Dance Clinic New Bedford, MA Job Details Part-time | Contract $18 - $24 an hour 2 hours ago Qualifications Behavior management Experience working with children Working with students Jazz dance Dancing activities for children Lesson planning Gymnastics Teaching experience with young children Experience working with elementary school students Classroom Teaching Specialization in creative arts instruction Full Job Description Dance Clinic is looking for a qualified, experienced, energetic, and dependable Dance Instructor to join our growing team! We are seeking a well-rounded instructor who is confident teaching dancers of all ages and ability levels . Applicants must have strong knowledge and teaching experience in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop . Experience in additional styles is a plus. Our ideal instructor is passionate about dance education, understands proper technique and age-appropriate progression, and knows how to create classes that are structured, challenging, positive, and fun. Required Dance Styles Applicants must be qualified and comfortable teaching: Ballet Jazz Tap Hip Hop Experience in Lyrical, Contemporary, Acro, Musical Theatre, Pom, Technique, Leaps & Turns, or other styles is a plus. Responsibilities Teach recreational dance classes to a variety of ages and ability levels Provide strong technical instruction in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop Create structured, engaging, and age-appropriate lesson plans Develop dancers' technique, musicality, coordination, strength, flexibility, and performance quality Choreograph and clean age-appropriate recital routines Provide clear corrections and constructive feedback while maintaining an encouraging environment Adapt teaching methods for different ages, learning styles, and ability levels Maintain strong classroom management Keep dancers engaged, moving, and progressing throughout class Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled classes, rehearsals, and studio events Communicate professionally with Dance Clinic staff Follow Dance Clinic's curriculum, policies, and teaching expectations Qualifications Previous dance teaching experience required Strong technical background in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop Must be comfortable teaching multiple age groups , from young children through teens Strong understanding of age-appropriate dance technique and progression Ability to choreograph engaging and age-appropriate routines Strong classroom management skills Dependable, professional, organized, and energetic Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with other instructors and staff Experience with competition dance is a plus Additional dance styles and specialties are a plus Who We're Looking For We are looking for a teacher who can balance high-quality technical training with a positive and encouraging classroom environment . Our instructors should be able to challenge dancers appropriately, recognize individual progress, build confidence, and create an environment where dancers are excited to learn. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children, is reliable, and wants to become part of the Dance Clinic team. Schedule This is a part-time position with primarily afternoon/evening and weekend availability. Specific teaching days and hours will be determined based on studio needs, experience, and applicant availability.
