Job Description
Church Music Director 1. Music Director will be under the supervision of the Worship Committee, and will attend monthly meetings of the Worship Committee. 2. Music Director will lead music on Sunday mornings, at special services, and at other times which may be appropriate, such as Wednesday evenings. 3. Music Director will, consulting with the pastor and with a listening ear for the desires and needs to the congregation, select music for Sunday morning worship and special services. 4. Music Director will conduct regular rehearsals with the music team, and such extra rehearsals as may be necessary to prepare for special occasions. 5. Music Director will invite/recruit members of the congregation to join the music team, by general announcements and/or specific invitation. 6. Music Director will prepare music. This may include learning and practicing new songs, typing or re-formatting song words for use by the music team and for use in PowerPoint on Sunday mornings, copying and organizing music for rehearsals and worship, and when appropriate and possible, copying extra music for use by the congregation. This also includes emailing or otherwise communicating the song list and any new song words to the person preparing PowerPoint and the bulletin for Sunday mornings. 7. Music Director will work in any additional ways needed (within the realm of possibilities) with PowerPoint volunteer, sound system volunteer, music team, pastor, and the congregation to enhance the worship of God and the ministry of the church. 8. Music Director will arrange pre-service music, recorded or otherwise, for announcements and prelude. 9. Music Director will procure new music to keep the musical aspect of worship as fresh and authentic as possible. This may include purchasing music, downloading from CCLI, creating new arrangements or melodies for existing songs and texts, and writing original songs.
