Job Summary:
Saguaro Christian Church is seeking a Director of Music Ministries. This person will work closely with the pastors, staff, and volunteers to create thoughtful and meaningful worship experiences that help people encounter God through music. The ideal candidate is a creative collaborator and encouraging leader who enjoys working with people of all ages and musical abilities. The church's Director of Music Ministries will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and leading the church's music program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as primary pianist and organist for all services.
  • Provide music education and training.
  • Coordinate hymns, music, and seasonal/special music with the pastors and staff that sufficiently capture the themes of the worship season.
  • Hold weekly music rehearsals for all musicians - Sanctuary Choir, Saguaro Ringers (bell choir), and Shelter (worship band).
  • Recruit and train new musicians.
  • Coordinate guest musicians.
  • Continue to build a culture of congregational participation.
  • Manage and maintain the church's music library and equipment.
  • Attend staff meetings, board meetings, and necessary planning meetings.
  • Arrive sufficiently early for worship preparation, rehearsal, and sound check.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience leading music ministries in a church or worship setting.
  • Strong knowledge of traditional worship music, progressive Christian music, liturgy, and liturgical tradition.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse team of musicians.
  • Collaborative and creative spirit.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and special events.
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and ministry of the church.
  • A heart for building relationships and nurturing volunteers.
  • Appreciation for a wide range of musical styles and worship traditions.
