We are seeking Musical Theatre Music Directors to join the creative teams for elementary school productions throughout Orange County. We welcome experienced Music Directors, as well as talented musicians, performers, educators, and theatre artists who may have limited Music Directing experience and would benefit from our paid Music Director Training Program . Our productions typically feature casts of approximately 50-70 students in grades 1-6 . Responsibilities Music Directors work closely with the Director, Choreographer, and production team to: Teach songs, melodies, rhythms, harmonies, and vocal parts Lead full-cast and small-group music rehearsals Keep large groups of young performers focused, engaged, and encouraged Work with rehearsal and performance accompaniment tracks Participate in auditions and casting Attend rehearsals, tech week, dress rehearsals, and performances Who We're Looking For Experience in any of the following is a plus: Musical theatre or Music Directing Singing, choir, or vocal instruction Music or theatre education Working with children Piano or keyboard Music technology and rehearsal tracks Piano skills are helpful but not required. Most importantly, we're looking for people who are positive, dependable, energetic, comfortable leading a room, great with kids, and collaborative with a creative team. Music Director Training Program Candidates with a strong musical or theatrical background but limited Music Directing experience may be considered for our paid training program . Training may include shadowing experienced Music Directors, assisting with active productions, paid training sessions, hands-on rehearsal experience, and coaching designed to prepare candidates to Music Direct future productions. Previous Music Directing experience is preferred, but not required to apply. Schedule & Compensation This is a paid, part-time, project-based position . Each production has its own rehearsal and performance schedule. Music Directors should be available for the majority of rehearsals and must be able to commit to key dates including auditions, tech week, dress rehearsals, and performances. Music Directors are compensated per production. Training is compensated separately at an hourly rate.
