Job Description
Support the goals and mission of the college; provide quality instruction to your students; and communicate with your department chair or administrator. Primary responsibilities include planning and leading structured, productive weekly orchestra rehearsals, as well as conducting the ensemble in one or more performances each semester serving as the orchestra director. Additional responsibilities involve programming the concert season, working with the Director of Academic Arts to market the orchestra, and supporting the college's recruitment process to build and sustain the orchestra. Education/Experience Master's degree in Music or related field with 18 graduate hours in content area at minimum required. A terminal degree (Master's or Doctorate) in Music Performance, Music Education, Musicology, Music History, or a closely related field. Teaching experience preferred. Qualifications Candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach and communicate effectively with students across a wide range of academic backgrounds. Prior successful teaching experience at college/university level preferred. Position Status Part Time Hours Moraine Valley Orchestra is a combined college and community ensemble Wednesday evenings from 7:00 - 9:30 p.m. on the main campus.
