- Musical Leadership of the
Adult Choir:
1. Direct the Adult Choir during 10 am worship services by selecting music that:
- Aligns with the Worship Themes for each Sunday.
- Is appropriate for the choir's abilities.
- Is planned out 3 weeks in advance of service.
- -Anthem titles will be entered into Planning Center 3 weeks in advance.
2. Be present in Sunday morning worship services to provide oversight and direction. 3. Hours will vary throughout the liturgical seasons. 4. Select music for all extra worship services at EUMC as needed (for example, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, etc.) 5. Find/provide coverage for choir rehearsal direction and for any accompanists when absent from worship service during the fall, winter and spring. 6. Maintain a music library of various styles and instrumentation. 7. Promote fellowship within choir and help recruit new volunteers into the music ministry. 8. Provide inspiring and motivational music ministry during all worship services and EUMC programs/events.
Rehearsals:
1. Organize and conduct rehearsals for choirs and musicians to ensure high-quality performances during worship services. 2.
The Sunday morning rehearsal is:
9:30 am
- 10:00 am for 10:00 am worship service.
3. Organize additional rehearsals (day/time to be determined) to ensure choir is prepared for Sunday morning service.
Collaboration:
1. Working closely with clergy, worship leaders, and other staff members to coordinate music with the overall worship experience. 2. Provide music information for weekly worship planning to the church staff in a timely manner. 3. Attend staff meetings on a schedule determined in consultation with the lead pastor (ex: one per month or quarterly), in-person or virtually, to evaluate the prior worship service(s) and discuss upcoming worship services.
Training and Development:
1. Timeliness and appropriate preparation for rehearsals and worship services to start on time. 2. Ensure choir is prepared for all services by providing music to choir members with sufficient time to learn the music (no less than 3-4 weeks prior to service) and through scheduled rehearsals. 3. Ensure music is provided to accompanist no less than 3-4 weeks prior to rehearsals of any given piece. 4. Provide musical training and guidance to choir members, musicians, and volunteers to enhance their skills and abilities.
Outreach:
1. Develop a recruitment plan to encourage congregation members to offer their musical gifts in worship. 2. Collaborate with the Communications Specialist to promote and educate the congregation and public at large to encourage participation in EUMC's ministry and foster a sense of worship and connection through music.
Administration:
1. Communicate and collaborate with the church administrator and the church treasurer to select and purchase music resources and maintain music-related equipment and facilities. 2. Communicate and collaborate with the church treasurer to ensure guest musicians are paid for their services. Other duties as assigned. Position Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree in Music (vocal preferred) or equivalent work experience. 2. Effective and caring communication and interpersonal skills in support of the needs of EUMC staff and all congregation members. Ability to communicate effectively on music program requirements with both paid staff, professional and amateur/volunteer musicians, and children, youth and adults of the congregation. 3. Effective organizational skills and an ability to work independently with minimal oversight by the lead pastor. 4. Ability to work effectively, efficiently, and with grace under pressure to problem solve and resolve conflicts between/within the music talent. 5. Knowledge of and willingness to offer a diversity of music and to utilize and promote everyone's musical gifts.
