Arise United Methodist Church Open Position:

Music Director Background Arise Church is a United Methodist congregation located in Pinckney, MI (20 minutes northwest of Ann Arbor, MI). Our mission is "calling others to follow Jesus, participate in a welcoming community, and transform the world with Good News." Arise Church was planted in 1996, and is proudly affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Arise Church currently has one worship service (10:00am Sundays), which blends traditional and contemporary elements. We sing both hymns and modern choruses. We are energetic, yet reverent. We have a relaxed atmosphere, yet we are tethered to liturgical practices. Our current attendance is 55 in-person worshippers (on average) and many more watching online. Hours & Compensation 10 hours per week. Compensation based on skill and experience. Requirements Proficiency as a skilled pianist and an engaging vocalist capable of leading musical worship. Understanding of the Christian faith (familiarity with the United Methodist Church is a plus). Superb written and verbal skills necessary for communicating and collaborating with others. Proven ability in team building, recruitment, and healthy conflict resolution. Competency in basic computer applications and collaboration tools (i.e. Google Workspace). Responsibilities Lead and direct all musical elements of our Sunday worship services. Collaborate with the pastor to select and prepare music for Sunday worship services. Coordinate and direct rehearsals with vocalists and musicians for Sunday worship services. Coach current vocalists to reach full potential and mentor new vocalists and musicians. Provide music accompaniment for funerals, weddings, events (additionally compensated). The music director reports to the pastor and the staff-parish relations chair.
