Job Description

About St Paul's St. Paul's Ocean Grove Church is a dynamic church with a unique ministry context — gathering indoors for 35 weeks of the year and outdoors on the boardwalk for Beach Church each summer. Position Summary We are seeking a motivated self-starter who is passionate about Jesus, loves worship, and desires to help create inspiring, Spirit-led worship experiences. In this part-time role, you'll plan, coordinate, and lead the music and flow of our contemporary services, partnering closely with our Lead Pastor and worship team to craft worship that is theologically sound, spiritually enriching, and deeply engaging. You'll have real creative room to disciple team members, introduce fresh music, and develop original worship songs. Key Responsibilities The Worship Leader will plan and lead contemporary worship each Sunday, working closely with the Lead Pastor to create a unified, meaningful service experience. This includes leading weekly rehearsals, introducing new songs and arrangements, and partnering with the Tech Team on sound, lighting, and multimedia. Beyond Sunday ministry, this role involves recruiting, training, and mentoring musicians and vocalists, providing music lessons and coaching to team members and students, and building relationships with local schools to create pathways for students to participate in worship leadership. The Worship Leader will also steward the worship budget, maintain records of song selections and team schedules, and regularly evaluate and refine the effectiveness of services. Who We're Looking For Heart & Character (Required) Committed follower of Jesus — demonstrates a growing personal relationship with Christ and a desire to keep maturing spiritually. Relational and pastoral — compassionate, communicative, and able to build genuine community within the team and congregation. Gifting & Experience (Required) Musical ability — proficient in singing and/or leading from a primary instrument (typically guitar or keyboard) in a contemporary style. Worship leadership — proven experience leading worship and crafting Christ-centered services that align with Scripture. Leadership & teamwork — experience leading a team and collaborating effectively with church staff. Heart for growing others — willing to give music lessons, develop the music program, and invest in students and emerging worship leaders. Preferred Degree or coursework in Worship Arts, Music Ministry, Theology, or a related field. Familiarity with Planning Center, ProPresenter, or similar ministry tools. Schedule Regular commitments include Sunday morning services, weekly worship team rehearsal, weekly staff meeting, leading a small group, and church leadership meetings.
Note:
Must be able to successfully complete and maintain all Safe Sanctuary requirements, including background checks, reference verification, and required training. If you have a heart for worship and love using your musical gifts to draw people closer to God, we'd love to hear from you. To apply, please submit your resume to: jobs@oceangrove.church
