TITLE:
HIGH SCHOOL SHOW CHOIR COMBO DIRECTOR
REPORTS TO:

Show Choir Director

EMPLOYMENT STATUS

Temporary, Supplemental Contract

POSITION SUMMARY

Assist the vocal music director by recruiting and directing student musicians who serve in the 12 student musical combo that supports the show choir performance group.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist with recruitment of instrumental combo members.

Lead weekly one-hour rehearsals.

Lead combo during dress rehearsals with the singers/dancers.

Conduct/oversee combo during performances (negotiated with vocal music director).

Communicate important information to combo members during band practice.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Carry out other assignments as directed by the vocal music director and/or building principal.

Observe all safety and health regulations of the school.

Maintain appropriate personal appearance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Licensure/certification in music preferred.

Combo experience preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of show choir performance techniques.

Ability to work effectively with students and adults.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students.

Ability to lead/direct instrumental combo in support of performing vocal group.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED

Telephone and fax machine.

Computer/printer.

Public address system.

Two-way radio.

Various office machines and educational equipment; for example, copiers and DVD players.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.

Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather; that is, being prepared to come to school on all scheduled work days, except calamity days.

Some interaction with unruly students.

Possible interaction with angry or distraught adults.

Must be available for education related purposes outside the supplemental day when requested to do so under reasonable terms.

Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, reach with hands and arms.

Occasional requirement to lift, carry, push and pull various items; for example, books and supplies, up to a maximum of 25 pounds.
