Job Description
Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church Praise Band & Worship Leader Position:
Part Time (7-10 hours a week) The major purpose and responsibility of the Praise Band & Worship Leader is to facilitate excellent traditional/contemporary worship music experiences weekly. Candidates should be self-motivated, personable, possess strength and conviction in their work, collaborate well with others and provide a heartfelt spark to the weekly worship service. Salaried position. $12,000 annually. Qualifications- Active in Christian faith.
- Ability to read music and chord charts.
- Ability to play keyboard and/or guitar.
- Possess strong vocal presence, ability to lead songs and other singers.
- Ability to lead rehearsals and lead instrumentalists and vocalists.
- Knowledge of current and standard worship songs and how to effectively incorporate them into a worship setting.
- Ability to lead songs for the congregation and teach new songs.
- Ability to recruit, train and manage volunteers for the musical arts and collaborate with the technical and visual arts staff.
- Ability to collaborate with other leaders to create and design meaningful worship experiences. Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate excellent traditional/contemporary weekly worship music experiences.
- Selecting and rehearsing songs that support the weekly theme of worship.
- Leading the music portion of the weekly worship service.
- Attending Worship planning meetings to ensure proper music planning cycle.
- Use and teach worship songs that have sound Christian theology.
- Effectively use Planning Center to organize musicians, distribute music and communicate with your team and the pastors.
- Design/create or direct visual presentation content, integrating songs and other worship elements for use on ProPresenter.
- Organize and subscribe to necessary music and permissions websites. (CCLI, Song Select, Praise Charts) and adhere to all copyright laws.
- Coordinate/communicate with the sound technician for rehearsals and weekly worship.
- Coordinate with traditional service leadership when needed and for any combined services throughout the year.
- Prepare for and be present at all "holiday" services. This includes Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Easter.
- In the case of approved absences, ensure facilitation is at a comparable level.
