Director of Music MinistriesQUALIFICATIONS
1. Demonstrates strength and maturity in his/her Christian faith and be willing and able to lead an exemplary Christian life 2. Share and support the Christian vision, mission and values of BCUMC 3. Prefer a bachelor's degree in Music or equivalent experience 4. Demonstrate ability as accomplished organist and pianist 5. Demonstrates ability to conduct vocal music groups 6. Be able to pass a physical examination as may be required 7. Ability to follow oral and written instructions 8. Ability to work and communicate with other employees and individuals 9. Ability to work effectively and efficiently without close supervision 10. Has basic computer literacy 11. Senior PastorPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serve as principal organist and pianist 2. Rehearse and direct choirs (handbell, adult choir, children's choir) 3. Schedule and conduct weekly rehearsals 4. Select music that accentuates worship themes and holy seasons. 5. Recruit musicians for choirs and special music. 6. Select music for worship service in collaboration with the pastor. 7. Recruit, schedule and prepare soloists, duets and ensembles for worship service as needed 8. Recruit substitute organists as needed. 9. Assume full responsibility for the maintenance of the organ, pianos, other music equipment and submit invoices upon completion of work to Finance Administrator 10. Develop and monitor the music ministries budget in conjunction with the Financial Administrator and the Senior Pastor 11. Supervise the inventory of music in the appropriate library 12. Submit bulletin materials on a timely basis 13. Provide support to church staff and other church programs as needed 14. Write publicity materials regarding the music program needs as appropriate. 15. Participate in staff meetings, committee meetings, new member orientation session, and other related program areas as needed 16. Provide music for weddings, funerals, and other such events; serve as organist for such events, as needed 17. Perform all other duties and assignments as applicable to the position as may be directed by the Senior PastorTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a part time position. Work year, workdays, salary are established in accordance with the provisions of the current BCUMC Lay Personnel Policy Manual as approved by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.EVALUATION
Performance of the job will be evaluated at least annually in accordance with the provisions of the current BCUMC Lay Personnel Policy Manual.Organization:
