Contract Position Title. Protestant Music Director 2. Scope of Responsibilities. The Protestant Music Director provides services as musician and Music Team Leader for the Protestant Worship Service (PWS). 3. Qualifications of the
Protestant Music Director:
The Director must: 3.1. Be proficient at playing guitar and/or piano. 3.2. Be able to sight-read music and/or play by ear. 3.3. Be familiar with and able to play, and teach others to play, a variety of Contemporary and Praise and Worship church songs. 3.4. Be able to recruit volunteers and lead a team of 5-12 individuals in performing Contemporary and Praise and Worship music. 3.5. Be able to communicate written and orally in English. 3.6. Experience working in a military environment is preferred. 3.7. Must have a working knowledge of applicable Air Force Instructions and be familiar with the Chapel Tithes and Offerings Fund (CTOF). 3.8. Functions as a team member in a pluralistic environment working with chaplains, staff, directors, and volunteers. 3.9. Director shall present a neat appearance and shall dress in a conservative and professional manner appropriate for an office and/or worship environment. 4.
General Responsibilities:
4.1. Provides music for the Protestant Worship Service at Chapel facilities. 4.2 Recruit, train and lead the PWS music team/band. 4.3. The Protestant Music Director shall coordinate all support requirements with the Contract Officer or designated representative. 5.
Specific Responsibilities:
5.1. Provides leadership for the music team at one PWS and one rehearsal per week. 5.2. Recruits and leads 5-12 volunteers to comprise the PWS music team/band to include audio/video support volunteers. 5.3. Through a body of recruited volunteers, incorporates a variety of instruments in the performance of church music, e.g., guitars, drums, bass guitar, tambourine, piano. 5.4. Chooses musical selections and provides printed lyrics for worship display. 5.4.1. Coordinates song selections in advance with worship service chaplain. 5.4.2. Complies with all information security and Christian Copyright License International (CCLI) requirements. 5.5. Will arrive at Chapel a minimum of one hour prior to Worship service. 5.6. Returns music areas both on stage and storage closet to a neat and orderly condition at the end of each rehearsal/service, to include returning musical instruments, microphones, music stands and music books to their place. 5.7. Ensures all musical and electronic equipment used is turned off after use. 5.8. Ensures facility needed is scheduled for the rehearsal/service. 5.9. The director shall coordinate all support requirements with the Contract Officer or designated representative. 5.10. Accountable for paying any Social Security payments, Federal or Local Income Taxes, and State Unemployment Insurance premiums for themselves, as well as any individual employed or subcontracted by them to provide services under this contract. 5.11. The director shall coordinate all support requirements with the Contract Officer or designated representative. 5.12. As appropriate, the director will, in consultation with the Contract Officer or designated representative, develop an annual calendar of events, CTOF budget, appropriated fund budget, and core religious education curriculum. The information is submitted as required by the local Chaplain Corps operating procedures. 6. Criminal History Background Checks.
The Director will:
6.1. Submit an application for a background check to the NCOIC, Chapel Operations accordingto Department of Defense Instruction. Candidates who do not possess the specific attributes/qualifications in section "3. Qualifications of the Protestant Music Director " above need not apply. This is a part-time position with compensation based on budget and the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
