The School of Music at Baylor University seeks an engaging and collaborative academic leader to serve as Assistant or Associate Professor of Church Music and Director of the Dunn Center for Christian Music Studies. The successful candidate will provide visionary leadership for the Dunn Center, engage in influential scholarly work, contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in church music, and cultivate meaningful connections among the academy, the church, and the broader field of Christian music and worship. About Church Music and the Dunn Center for Christian Music Studies Church Music at Baylor brings together rigorous musical study, theological reflection, research, and practical formation for service to the church. Students pursue undergraduate and graduate pathways in Church Music, including master's and doctoral study and a joint M.Div./M.M. with George W. Truett Theological Seminary. The Dunn Center for Christian Music Studies extends this work through research initiatives, conferences and public programs, visiting artists and scholars, church and professional partnerships, and global Music & Missions opportunities. Responsibilities:

Provide strategic and administrative leadership for the Dunn Center for Christian Music Studies, including its programs, research initiatives, public engagement, partnerships, staff, and financial resources. Work collaboratively with Church Music faculty and Dunn Center staff to sustain and develop programs that serve Baylor students, scholars, church musicians, congregations, and the broader field. Cultivate relationships with churches, professional organizations, alumni, donors, academic partners, and other Baylor units, including George W. Truett Theological Seminary, as appropriate to the Center's mission. Maintain an active scholarly, creative, and/or professional agenda with visibility and contribution appropriate to a research university. Participate in teaching courses in Church Music/Worship in areas aligned with the candidate's expertise and program needs and supervise graduate research as appropriate. Qualifications:

Required An earned doctoral or terminal degree in Church Music, Worship Studies, Sacred Music, Music, Theology/Religion, or other closely related field. Demonstrated leadership or administrative experience relevant to an academic center/program, church or ministry organization, nonprofit, or comparable setting. Substantial knowledge of Christian worship and church music, with the ability to connect scholarship, musical practice, ministry, and the practical needs of churches. A record of significant scholarly, creative, and/or professional activity appropriate to appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring, with preparation to teach Church Music/Worship at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment. Preferred Experience leading a center, academic program, or major initiative, requiring strategic planning and project execution. Experience supervising staff, managing budgets, and/or working with advisory boards or external partners. Demonstrated success with grants, external funding, donor relationships, or other forms of resource development. A record of national and/or international professional engagement and partnership-building. Experience advising graduate research, theses, dissertations, or doctoral projects.
