Pay Rate:
$35/hr. - $40/hr. Position Summary Our parish Pianist will assist in leading the faithful in full and active participation in the sacred music of the liturgy. In addition to the regular schedule of 2 Sunday Masses, will also need be available for special Masses throughout the year (such as feast days / solemnities, funerals and weddings), and regular rehearsals with our choir (~1x a week). This position requires working weekends and evenings. Primary Responsibilities Participates in worship space planning requirements Make a minimum of 1x choir practice a week Have strong sight-reading skills. Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of sound system and media display Acts as sound technician/sound engineer as needed Serves as a resource to staff in selecting music and planning liturgies and prayer services Invites, encourages, and enhances assembly participation in the sung liturgy; assures ongoing expansion of the parish music repertoire Awareness of liturgical elements / order of the Holy Mass Enthusiasm for sacred music / serving in liturgical ministry Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Ability to work flexible hours Good communication skills Friendly with excellent people and communication skills High degree of proficiency with a piano capable of providing musical leadership during liturgies Applicants should excel in sight reading, thorough knowledge of playing the organ/piano, and be comfortable with both homophonic and polyphonic music Active member of a Catholic faith community Thorough knowledge and familiarity with the organizational structure and practices of the Roman Catholic Church Education and Experience Minimum 2 years' experience in liturgical music Performance skills for organ, piano Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend meetings or events. The employee must be able to climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
