Worship Accompanist Irvine Korean United Methodist Church Irvine, CA Job Details Contract $50 a week 1 day ago Qualifications Teamwork Religious music performance experience Classical worship music conducting Piano Traditional hymn music conducting Full Job Description Korean Worship Service Accompanist (Casual) Position Summary Irvine Korean United Methodist Church (part of University UMC Irvine) is seeking a gifted pianist to serve as the accompanist for our Korean-language worship service. Music is an integral part of worship and plays a vital role in supporting congregational singing, prayer, and praise. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys traditional Christian worship and is committed to helping create a meaningful worship experience through music. Time Commitment Approximately 1 hour per week Primary responsibility is providing piano accompaniment during the weekly Korean worship service. Occasional additional time may be requested for special services (Christmas, Easter, memorial services, or other celebrations) by mutual agreement. Essential Responsibilities Accompany congregational singing, primarily using traditional hymns. Provide musical accompaniment for the liturgy, including preludes, offertories, postludes, and other worship elements as appropriate. Coordinate with the Korean worship leader or pastor regarding hymn selections and service music. Arrive prior to the service to prepare and ensure readiness for worship. Maintain a spirit of flexibility and collaboration in support of the worship ministry. Qualifications Proficiency in piano accompaniment. Ability to play traditional Christian hymns with confidence and appropriate worship style. Strong sight-reading skills preferred. Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism. Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, worship leaders, and volunteers. Familiarity with Korean-language worship is preferred. The accompanist does not need to speak Korean fluently, but should be comfortable following the worship order and coordinating with Korean-speaking leaders. Compensation $50 per week. Reports To The accompanist reports to the Lead Pastor or designated Korean Worship Ministry leader. Mission The accompanist serves as a worship leader through music, helping the congregation glorify God and participate fully in worship through the rich tradition of hymn singing.
