Church Organist

Responsibilities Play the church's pipe or electronic organ during weekly services, special ceremonies, and community events with enthusiasm and professionalism Collaborate with pastors, choir directors, and other musicians to select appropriate music that aligns with worship themes and liturgical calendar Prepare music arrangements for various service components, including hymns, preludes, postludes, and offertories Maintain the organ's functionality through regular tuning, cleaning, and minor repairs or coordinate with technicians for professional servicing Lead or support choir rehearsals as needed to ensure cohesive musical presentations during services Assist in organizing special musical programs or seasonal concerts that engage the congregation and community Foster an inviting atmosphere for musicians and congregation members alike through positive engagement and encouragement Experience Proven experience as an organist or keyboardist in a church or similar religious setting Strong proficiency in playing the organ, with a good understanding of different musical styles including traditional hymns and contemporary selections Familiarity with theater music is a plus, enabling versatile performance styles for various church events Reading Sheet Music optional Excellent collaboration skills to work seamlessly with clergy, choir members, and technical staff Prior experience in maintaining or troubleshooting electronic organs is advantageous but not required We are committed to fostering a welcoming environment where your musical gifts can flourish.
