Organist | $60 per hour, commensurate with experience | James Lovell FHCC, Veterans Affairs, Chicago IL Part-Time Contract | 1099 | Up to six hours per month Are you an experienced church musician who can confidently play both traditional Protestant and Catholic hymns? Would you value a flexible opportunity using your musical ability to support Veterans and their families? We are seeking an experienced Organist to provide religious music for worship services at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago. The role You will provide live music using either the organ or piano during Protestant and Catholic services. Services will normally take place on Sundays, with occasional sessions required for special religious holidays. The schedule will be agreed with the Chaplain and will not exceed six one-hour sessions per month. Key responsibilities Play the organ or piano during Protestant and Catholic worship services. Perform a varied selection of traditional Protestant and Catholic hymns. Read and perform confidently from sheet music. Work closely with the Chaplain regarding service schedules and musical requirements. Arrive prepared and provide a professional, respectful musical service. Adapt appropriately to the needs of Veterans, their families and the worship setting.

The person You will need:

At least 360 hours of musical experience within a traditional church environment. Experience playing music for Protestant and Catholic religious services. The ability to read sheet music confidently. Strong organ and/or piano-playing skills. Familiarity with a broad range of Protestant and Catholic hymns. Reliability, professionalism and sensitivity when working within a federal healthcare setting. Availability on Sundays and for occasional special holiday services.
