Job Summary We are seeking a talented and versatile Substitute Organist/Pianist to provide musical leadership and accompaniment for some of our Sunday services during the months of November 2026, as well as January and February 2027. This role offers an exciting opportunity for experienced musicians to contribute to a vibrant worship environment, bringing inspiring musical selections that enhance spiritual experiences. The ideal candidate may play the organ or piano, with the flexibility to adapt to various musical styles and liturgical traditions. Your energetic presence will help foster a welcoming atmosphere and support the congregation's worship through compelling musical expression. Responsibilities Perform as the substitute organist or pianist during Sunday services, ensuring seamless musical accompaniment for hymns, choir pieces, and congregational singing. Select appropriate music that aligns with liturgical themes, incorporating hymn music, sacred compositions, and suitable concert pieces. Read sheet music fluently and adapt to different musical arrangements with ease, demonstrating excellent sight-reading skills. Harmonize melodies and improvise when needed to enrich the worship experience, blending various music genres harmoniously. Play additional instruments such as guitar or drums if required, supporting ensemble performances or special service elements. Collaborate with church staff and choir directors to coordinate music selections and prepare for upcoming services. Maintain knowledge of acoustic treatment principles to optimize sound quality within the worship space when necessary. Experience Proven experience performing religious music in liturgical settings, with a deep understanding of musical liturgical traditions. Strong background in reading sheet music, improvisation, composition, and musical arrangement techniques.
