Job Description

The First UMC Laurinburg Accompanist/Church Musician is a part-time position that reports to the pastor and is responsible for playing the piano and/or organ in the sanctuary for 11:00 Sunday morning worship services.

This role involves:

•

Sunday Worship:

Play prelude, postlude, offertory, doxology and accompany congregational hymns and choir anthem each week.

•

Choir Rehearsals:

Accompany choir prac:ces as needed and warm-ups before Sunday services.

•

Ensembles & Soloists:

Rehearse and perform with vocalists, instrumentalists, or small groups.

•

Special Services:

Provide music for seasonal services including but not limited to Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, and Holy Week and play for funerals when possible.

•

Collaboration:

Meet regularly with the pastor and music director to review song selections and service flow.

•

Proficiency:

Advanced piano skills; organ capability is a plus but not required.

•

Sight-Reading:

Strong ability to read music and learn new pieces quickly.

•

Reliability:

Punctual for scheduled rehearsals and Sunday services.

•

Teamwork:
Posi:

ve aRtude when working with clergy, choir members, and other church staff.

•

Instruments:

Steinway grand piano and Casavant Frères organ, which was made specifically for the church around the late 1980s.
