A Musician or Singer performs instrumental music or sings. Participates in rehearsals and performances, records music, writes musical compositions or arrangements, promotes performances, and teaches students. May specialize in classical music, jazz, popular, folk, electronic or other musical forms.
Provides musical accompaniment to other musicians and to singers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Accompanies music for practices and performances. Plays an instrument to accompany new and traditional vocal and instrumental music. Consults with teachers and conductors to choose appropriate music. Participates in music rehearsals and performances.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and play traditional and contemporary music for a variety of conductors and soloists. Knowledge of the subject matter. Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality. Ability to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous accompanist experience required. Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed required.
