Church Organist/Piano Musician- Part Time Our Saviour Lutheran Church Croton on Hudson, NY Croton-on-Hudson, NY Job Details Part-time From $18,000 a year 20 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Flexible schedule Qualifications Organ playing Religious music performance experience Piano Instrument maintenance Full Job Description Overview Our Saviour Lutheran Church is seeking a part-time musician to work an average of approximately 10-12 hours a week. The musician will work with the Pastor and Council President, helping to shape worship services each week. Responsibilities Lead and accompany congregational singing during weekly worship services, special ceremonies, and community events using organ or piano. Select appropriate hymns, liturgical music, and concert pieces that align with the service themes and liturgical calendar. Rehearse regularly with other musicians during special services. Maintain and care for all musical instruments, including tuning and basic upkeep to ensure optimal sound quality. Collaborate with clergy and the worship team to plan music that enhances the spiritual message of each service. Incorporate musical improvisation, composition, and harmonizing melodies to enrich the musical offerings. Ensure proper copyright laws are being followed. Skills Knowledge of musical liturgical traditions and hymns. Organ is the preferred instrument, but we will also work with a piano knowing organists are rare. Skills in musical improvisation, composition, and harmonizing melodies to create engaging arrangements. Work with other amateur musicians to create a lively worship experience, as needed. Be available, if possible and as needed, for funerals and weddings. Connection to the larger church community.
