In this vital role, you will provide musical accompaniment for congregational singing and choral anthems, provide gathering and offertory solos (or duets or small ensembles with other musicians), and support special services, creating an atmosphere of worship suited to each occasion. Your expertise in a variety of musical genres will help foster a lively and welcoming environment where faith is prayerfully expressed through music. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with church leadership and other musicians, bringing vibrant musical energy to our community's spiritual journey. Duties Plans, prepares and plays music for the 10:00 AM worship service weekly and other special services throughout the year for the organ and piano, selecting appropriate music in coordination with the Pastor and Choir Director. Prepares music and rehearses with the church choir for regular and special performances. Participates with Pastor and Choir Director in planning weekly worship services and other special services throughout the year (e.g., Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve). Consults for and occasionally accompanies special services (weddings, funerals, etc.). Participates in monthly staff meetings. Coordinates with Choir Director and Pastor for maintenance of organ and piano. Submits information for worship bulletins on a timely basis. Arranges for a substitute organist or pianist for planned absences. Experience Proven experience performing religious music in a liturgical setting with strong knowledge of hymnody and sacred repertoire. Demonstrated ability to read sheet music fluently across multiple instruments including piano and organ. Prior experience accompanying choir rehearsals and performances with an emphasis on supporting singers. Experience and comfort with contemporary styles of praise and worship music is preferred. Familiarity with United Methodist worship traditions and resources is desired. Pay range is $10,000 - $12,000 per year, with an expectation of 6-10 hours per week on average.
