Vocal Choir Accompanist Job Description Professional Skills Sight-reading Broad musical repertoire and knowledge of hymns traditional and contemporary Christian music Collaboration (rehearsed and on-the-spot) Great ears for musical nuance (tempo, phrasing, tone, etc.) Punctuality Sectional work when necessary Verbal communication Willingness to lead vocal warm-up and sight-reading exercises when needed Interpersonal Skills Adaptability and comfort with the unpredictability of worship in service. In addition, accompanists must possess the ability to work together, and to take directions quickly. Work Life Rehearsals are once weekly for 45 minutes to an hour - usually on Wednesdays (with some seasonal adjustments) from September through May. The choir performs in a worship service around once a month, with worship services being on Saturdays at 5:00pm and Sunday at 9:00am, with an occasional mid-week service during lent. There is a possibility for flexibility for the right candidate. The Choir accompanist will meet with the Choir director, as needed prior to rehearsal times to review rehearsal expectations. The Choir accompanist will be in the sanctuary ready to rehearse and discuss any last-minute service needs 15 minutes prior to service rehearsal with choir on the Sunday, Saturday or weekday service the choir is scheduled to sing. The Choir director will provide the Choir accompanist with the planned Choir anthem in advance of weekly rehearsals. Pay commensurate with experience.
