Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Clinical Pharmacist Job Type Contract Provide expert clinical pharmacy services within a 200+ bed community hospital setting. This contract opportunity offers a dynamic role supporting patient care through comprehensive medication management and collaboration with healthcare teams. The position begins ASAP for a 13-week assignment in Alexandria, LA, with a schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week and rotating hours, including early mornings, evenings, and some weekends.
Responsibilities:
Verify medication orders accurately and efficiently to ensure patient safety Supervise pharmacy technicians, maintaining high standards in medication preparation and distribution Collaborate closely with physicians and nurses to optimize pharmacotherapy plans Utilize pharmacokinetic principles to tailor individualized patient medication regimens Operate IT systems including EPIC and Pyxis to document and manage medication processes
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Licensed Pharmacist with experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records and Pyxis automated dispensing systems Strong clinical knowledge and ability to perform medication order verification Effective communication and leadership skills for supervising support staff and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams Flexibility to work a variety of schedules including early mornings, late evenings, and every other weekend
Schedule:
Four 10-hour shifts per week Rotating schedule: 6 AM-4:30 PM, 7 AM-5:30 PM, or 12:30 PM-11 PM Every other weekend required This contract role is ideal for pharmacists seeking to leverage clinical expertise in a community hospital environment with opportunities for professional growth.
