Category Pharmacy-Pharmacist in Charge Job Type Contract To Hire A specialty pharmacy dedicated to hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is seeking an experienced Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC) to lead its new mail-order pharmacy launch in Pennsylvania. This temp-to-hire role centers on spearheading the licensure and operational startup process for a facility currently in build-out. The PIC will be instrumental in transitioning prescription volume from an external partner to the new in-house pharmacy, impacting thousands of patients utilizing specialized hormone therapies.

Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the named PIC on the PA Board of Pharmacy licensure application and lead the process through approval and inspection. Collaborate on facility readiness to meet all regulatory and Board of Pharmacy physical requirements. Develop and author all pharmacy standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and protocols prior to launch. Oversee all pharmacy operations post-launch including prescription dispensing, mail order fulfillment, and quality assurance. Manage DEA registration and ensure compliance with controlled substance regulations. Maintain ongoing audit readiness and serve as the primary contact for inspections and regulatory reviews. Hire, train, and manage pharmacy support personnel as operations scale.
Desired Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania pharmacist license in good standing with a clean compliance history (no board actions or sanctions). Minimum 3 years of pharmacist experience; prior PIC experience strongly preferred. Hands-on experience with new pharmacy launches, including pre-licensure setup, regulatory applications, and inspection readiness. Background in specialty pharmacy, particularly HRT or related therapies. Proven ability to lead PA Board of Pharmacy licensure processes successfully. Strong knowledge of DEA compliance, controlled substance handling, recordkeeping, and reporting. Willingness to obtain multi-state licensure via NABP reciprocity or state endorsement as the pharmacy expands. Experience developing SOPs from the ground up and overseeing start-up operations including vendor setup, workflow design, and staffing.
