Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist - Retail Job Type Contract Provide expert pharmaceutical care as a Staff Pharmacist in a retail setting, focusing on accurate medication dispensing, patient counseling, and pharmacy team supervision. This contract opportunity requires a dedicated professional licensed or eligible for licensure in New Mexico, ready to work primarily in La Mesa with some flexibility for additional retail location coverage.
Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday:
9:00 AM - 6:00
PM Wednesday, Friday:
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Closed on weekends and six major holidays at the primary location Occasional weekend shifts at a secondary location
Qualifications and Experience:
Active New Mexico Pharmacist License in good standing, or willingness to obtain before the start date Disclosure and verification of all active and inactive licenses Minimum one year of experience as a registered pharmacist preferred APhA Pharmacy Based Immunization Delivery Certification required or willingness to obtain within 30 days Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or willingness to obtain within 30 days Availability to cover shifts, including occasional weekends, at secondary retail location
Responsibilities:
Accurately prepare, review, and dispense medication orders following all protocols Maintain precise patient medication profiles and ensure proper documentation Supervise and direct pharmacy technicians, verifying daily activities Participate actively in pharmacy team medical emergency response Conduct medication storage inspections, identifying and removing outdated medications Orient and train new pharmacy team members as needed
Ideal Candidate:
An experienced retail pharmacist comfortable within a community grocery store pharmacy environment, skilled in patient counseling and medication dispensing, with the ability to effectively lead pharmacy technicians. Flexibility to work across primary and secondary retail sites and readiness to obtain necessary certifications promptly is crucial. This position is open to candidates willing to travel and commit to at least a 13-week contract; shorter assignments may be considered.
