Phlebotomist Job Description The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and conduct decontamination. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understand and follow all physicians' orders accurately. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills Phlebotomy skills including blood draw and specimen collection. Customer service skills. Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or

GED. 0-2

years of experience. Pediatric and adult drawing skills, capable of working with all age groups. Work Environment The work environment is typically a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Phlebotomists will interact with patients of all age groups and should expect to manage various tasks simultaneously. Adherence to safety regulations and protocols is crucial. The role may require standing for long periods and handling medical equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sicklerville, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
