Job Description
Virginia Surgery Group, a well-established general and colorectal surgery practice in Reston, Virginia, is seeking a motivated Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) to join our team. This role is critical to ensure that our patients receive timely medical care from a trained surgical specialist. The position is for 1-3 days per week. The candidate will work with and learn from a board certified colorectal surgeon to develop the skill set needed to provide high-level surgical care, and will include hands on training to learn and perform common in-office procedures. The candidate will see patients with general surgery and colorectal surgery diseases. The candidate will work in an outpatient clinic offering walk-in and urgent appointments. Current licensure in Virginia and board certification are required.

Outpatient Office Care :
Conduct patient evaluations, pre- and post-operative visits, perform and assist with office-based procedures.Collaborative Environment :
Work directly with a double board-certified surgeon in a supportive and patient-centered setting. Duties 1. Provide high-quality medical care for patients with a variety of acute and chronic surgical conditions 2. Perform common in-office procedures (e.g. anoscopy, excision of cysts, incision and drainage, rubber band ligation). 3. Perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests (such as labs, x-rays), and formulate differential diagnoses. 4. Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans, prescribe medications, and provide patient education on preventive care and health management. 5. Work collaboratively with the physician and support staff to ensure timely and cutting-edge patient care. 6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. 8. Educate patients and their families on conditions, treatments, and serve as a clinical expert on surgical conditions. 9. Answer patient's clinical questions during office hours. Requirements Valid Physician Assistant license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Strong interest in ambulatory and inpatient settings. Excellent data management skills for maintaining medical records. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
