Planer Mill Laborer

Job Summary:

The Planer Mill Laborer position is based out of the Planer Mill in New London, NH at Durgin & Crowell Lumber Co., Inc. Hours are 6:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Thursday and 6:00 am to noon on Friday. The candidate will straighten boards on the lumber production line to ensure the smooth flow of lumber through the planer mill.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Responsible for keeping up with the flow of production Keeps workspace and surroundings clean and neat to foster productivity and efficiency Conduct activities in a safe manner, follow corporate safety guidelines and requirements, use personal protective equipment, and proactively address any unsafe conditions observed. The candidate may also rotate between various areas of the Planer Mill if requested by the direct Manager. Other assignments as made by management.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Operate equipment safely and responsibly. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong work ethic, good judgment, and decision-making skills. Must have a professional attitude and work well with others. Promote a safe working environment and follow all workplace and job safety procedures.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) (Preferred).

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move to reach, clean, and service machinery. Must be able to inspect machines visually. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Walking on slippery or uneven surfaces from time to time. Hearing protection is required in certain areas of the facility. Buildings and grounds are non-smoking except in designated smoking areas.
