Job Description

Overview The Police Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining public safety and enforcing laws within the community. This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to serving and protecting the public while upholding the law. Officers are responsible for responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, and engaging with community members to foster trust and cooperation. Duties Enforce local, state, and federal laws while maintaining peace and order within the Town of Ferdinand. Respond promptly to emergency calls and incidents, providing assistance as needed. Conduct criminal investigations, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed reports. Utilize surveillance techniques to monitor suspicious activities and prevent crime. Engage in community policing efforts to build relationships with residents and address their concerns. Handle various situations involving animals, ensuring their safety and compliance with local regulations. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies on joint operations and investigations. Participate in training programs to enhance skills in areas such as report writing, leadership, and loss prevention. Experience New Officer Candidates must pass ILEA Tier 1 within the first year of being selected, including the ILEA academy, FTO, and other trainings. Laterals candidates should possess a Tier 1 Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Certificate, with a clear ILEA record/background. strong background in law enforcement.
Lateral qualifications include:
Experience or training in criminal investigation techniques Skills in report writing and documentation for legal proceedings. Familiarity with surveillance equipment and techniques. Leadership experience within a team environment is advantageous. A valid driver's license is required for operating police vehicles. This position requires individuals who are ready to take on challenges with integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to serving the community effectively.
