Police Officer Recruit Oakland Housing Authority (OHA) - Oakland, CA Full-Time | $40.62/hour About the Role The Oakland Housing Authority is hiring Police Officer Recruits —an entry-level, non-sworn role that prepares candidates for a law enforcement career through a California P.O.S.T.-certified Police Academy. After completing academy training, recruits may be sworn in as probationary Police Officers upon approval. Key Responsibilities Attend and complete a P.O.S.T.-certified Police Academy Participate in physical training and defensive tactics Learn patrol procedures, criminal law, firearms safety, and emergency response Complete written, physical, and scenario-based testing Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED At least 20.5 years old Valid CA Driver's License Eligible for a POST-certified academy U.S. citizen or eligible permanent resident No felony convictions Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred:

Bilingual (ASL, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese) or prior police-related experience Testing Requirements PELLETB T-score of 42+ (within 1 year) National Testing Network minimum scores required Physical Requirements Must pass POST physical test, including: Obstacle course 165 lb body drag 6-ft fence climb 500-yard run Hiring Process Includes physical test, interview, background check, polygraph, and medical/psychological exams (approx. 90 days).
