Duty Function of Work:
To protect lives and property by conducting foot and mobile security patrols; enforcing parking and traffic regulations; rendering emergency services; investigating crimes and making arrest when necessary. Provides a wide range of police services. Performs all the duties required of lower-level officers as necessary. Percentage Of Time 30 Responsibility / Duty Oversees and evaluates performance of lower-level officers on an assigned shift. Percentage Of Time 20 Responsibility / Duty Reviews and signs all reports submitted by lower-level officers. Percentage Of Time 20 Responsibility / Duty Conducts roll call and officer, vehicle, and equipment inspections. Percentage Of Time 10 Responsibility / Duty Serves as training officer by planning and coordinating training programs. Percentage Of Time 10 Responsibility / Duty Maintains firearms, armory, and other equipment. Percentage Of Time 10 Posting Detail Information Minimum Experience Required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Three years of law enforcement experience.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 60 semester hours which substitutes for two years of experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Possession of a valid Louisiana driver's license. Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Minimum Education Required High School diploma or equivalent.
