Job Description

Instructs in the allied health programs as determined by the Allied Health Coordinator. The instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in phlebotomy within the Continuing Education program. This includes classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction designed to prepare students for entry-level employment and certification in phlebotomy. The instructor ensures compliance with all institutional, state, and regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Provide instruction in phlebotomy, including venipuncture, capillary collection, specimen handling, and safety procedures Deliver classroom lectures, skills demonstrations, and supervised lab practice Evaluate student performance through written exams, skills assessments, and clinical evaluations Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, skills validation, clinical evaluations, and competency checklists. Ensure adherence to safety, infection control, and OSHA standards Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and course outlines aligned with program requirements. Supervise students in clinical or simulated lab settings. Maintain inventory and proper use of lab equipment and supplies Support student success through advising and timely feedback. Ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies Other duties may be assigned.

Participate in staff meetings and college committees as requested.

EXPERIENCE
Two years of work experience as a healthcare worker as evidenced by strong knowledge of phlebotomy techniques and best practices, with the ability to demonstrate and supervise clinical skills safely and effectively. The ability to work with diverse student populations. Demonstrated organizational and record-keeping skills, with a commitment to student success and workforce readiness. Teaching experience preferred but not required.
Healthcare workers include:
Registered Nurse Phlebotomy Technician Emergency Medical Service Workers-EMT, AEMT, Paramedic Medical Assistant
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret required course content and technical skills as required for curriculum instruction. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from instructors, students, staff, and the public.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current, unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in NC or a nurse licensure compact state. Certified Electrocardiogram Technician EMS Certification related to specific degree, diploma or certificate program
