Qualifications:
Applicant must have or be eligible for para-professional certification according to ALSDE regulations and must also produce a current TB Skin Test. Proficiency with technology is preferred. Applicant must have the ability to manage and control challenging students and possess a composed demeanor that does not cause provocation. Applicant must also serve as a liaison between teachers and administrators and follow strict guidelines with regard to personalized study.
Performance Responsibilities:
Supervise students assigned to SAP and/or alternative school placement throughout the school day. Maintain a structured, orderly, and respectful learning environment that supports student success. Enforce school and district policies, procedures, and behavioral expectations consistently and fairly. Monitor student behavior and implement behavior intervention strategies when necessary. Document student conduct, attendance, incidents, and disciplinary actions accurately and timely. Coordinate with classroom teachers to ensure students receive assignments, instructional materials, and assessments during placement. Monitor completion of academic assignments and provide assistance as needed. Maintain communication with teachers regarding student progress, assignment completion, and behavior. Encourage academic engagement and accountability while students are assigned to ISS or alternative placement. Support students in making progress toward graduation and grade-level expectations. Build positive relationships with students to encourage personal responsibility and behavioral improvement. Work collaboratively with counselors, administrators, teachers, and families to support student success plans. Help students transition successfully back into the regular classroom setting. Maintain regular communication with school administration regarding student concerns, progress, and disciplinary matters. Communicate professionally with parents/guardians regarding student expectations, progress, and concerns when appropriate. Collaborate with counselors, special education staff, and instructional personnel. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and required district training. Maintain accurate records related to student attendance, behavior, interventions, and assignment completion. Ensure confidentiality of student information and disciplinary records in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines. Prepare reports and documentation requested by school or district administration. Assist administration with campus supervision and student discipline as assigned. Support school-wide behavior initiatives, restorative practices, and positive school climate efforts. Serve as a positive role model for students in appearance, professionalism, and conduct. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or district administration.
Terms of Employment:
Nine-month position in accordance with the Board's salary schedule
Evaluation:
Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance to Demopolis City Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
