The Postdoctoral Associate will lead and/or contribute to numerous preclinical research projects focused on the development of novel molecular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI
  • based techniques for early detection, disease phenotyping and monitoring treatment outcomes in a variety of disease settings that includes cancer, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases and placental pathologies.
Job Duties Works on projects under the direction of principal investigator (PI). Helps by setting research directions on a daily basis within projects. Performs experiments, data analysis and reporting. Reports data and progress at weekly meetings with PI and research group. Prepares presentations for national and international meetings. Prepares manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications. Provides support for fundraising efforts. Designs studies and performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) experiments in living rodent models to complete the work proposed in funded grants (CPRIT, NIH, other grants). Develops and optimizes scan sequences to enable quantitative in vivo MRI. Analyzes data and report progress at weekly research group meetings. Prepares presentations for SPR, WMIC, AAIC, ISMRM, RSNA or other scientific meetings. Prepares manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications. Provides support for fundraising efforts. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field. No experience required. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering, medical physics, or related fields. Proficiency in preclinical MRI, image data processing and analysis. Experience in handling and working with rodents is desired. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment.
