Raymond Laborde Correctional Center is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join the team in the Nursing Department as a Practical Nurse-Licensed 1-3! Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state. - Administers prescribed medications to the inmate population in accordance with facility protocols, ensuring accuracy, safety, and proper documentation for all medication passes.
- Transcribes provider orders with precision , entering medications, treatments, and clinical directives into the appropriate systems while adhering to regulatory and facility standards.
- Conducts nursing assessments on inmates , evaluating physical and mental health status, identifying changes in condition, and communicating findings to the appropriate clinical providers.
- Performs venipuncture and collects laboratory specimens , preparing and processing samples according to clinical guidelines and maintaining chain-of-custody requirements.
- Responds promptly to inmate medical and mental health emergencies , providing immediate triage, stabilization, and nursing interventions until advanced care is available.

PROBATION, orPROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted. An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted. This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.Compensation:
This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. However, the salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Practical Nurse- Licensed 1 has an SER of $ 19.48 per hour Practical Nurse
- Licensed 2 has an SER of $ 20.84 per hour Practical Nurse
- Licensed 3 has an SER of $ 22.
