Job Description:
This position is responsible for providing instruction and support designed to prepare students for current and future success. The PreK Lead Teacher fosters a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and physical growth of young children. Essential Functions Curriculum and Instruction Teaches district-approved curriculum daily and implements school and district curricular goals. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials aligned to early childhood standards. Carries out lesson plans through developmentally appropriate learning experiences. Provides individualized and small group instruction to meet diverse student needs. Establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, and activities and communicates them effectively. Guides the learning process toward achievement of learning objectives and curriculum goals. Provides a variety of materials and resources for exploration, play, and hands-on learning. Organizes and leads activities that promote physical, cognitive, and social development (e.g., games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips). Creates and maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning in both appearance and structure. Motivates students to engage in learning and develop curiosity. Observes and evaluates children's academic performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Progress monitors student growth (academic, social, and behavioral) and reports data appropriately. Develops and administers assessments to evaluate student competency and growth. Identifies children with potential developmental, emotional, or health concerns and collaborates with appropriate stakeholders. Attends to children's basic needs and ensures a safe, supportive environment. Assists students in developing and maintaining appropriate behavior for an effective learning atmosphere. Professionalism Participates in all required professional development, including but not limited to RISE training. Completes a minimum of 30 hours annually in Continuing Early Childhood Education through the Professional Development Registry. Actively participates in grade-level or content team meetings and collaborative school activities. Engages in collegial and professional interactions within the school and district. Communicates regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and development. Meets with families to discuss student needs and provide strategies for continued growth. Maintains accurate, complete, and compliant records as required by law and district policy. Ensures substitute teachers are provided with clear plans and necessary instructional information. Enforces district and school policies and procedures consistently. Follows all state, district, and school expectations and guidelines. Employability Skills Demonstrates effective interpersonal and soft skills with students, families, and staff. Reports to work regularly, reliably, and on time. Maintains a safe environment by taking reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities. Responds appropriately to emergency situations and safety concerns. Maintains the personal safety and well-being of all students. Demonstrates flexibility, initiative, and a willingness to perform additional duties as assigned.
