Our client is looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Director to join the leadership team at their premier preschool in Wayne, NJ. The ideal candidate must have strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills (verbal and written), a genuine love for children, and a strong commitment to education. This is a Direct Hire position with the school Full-Time; Monday-Friday; year-round employment As an Assistant Director , you are responsible for ensuring the consistent execution, quality, and continuous improvement of the curriculum across all classrooms. This role works directly with teachers to elevate classroom performance, enhance child engagement, and maintain compliance with state licensing standards, while fostering a nurturing and developmentally appropriate learning environment. Curriculum & Classroom Oversight Ensure consistent curriculum implementation and compliance with NJ DCF standards Review lesson plans and conduct classroom walkthroughs Maintain organized, engaging, and well-equipped classrooms Uphold professional appearance and brand standards Teacher Support & Coaching Collaborate with teachers on lesson planning and classroom strategies Lead curriculum meetings and encourage teamwork across classrooms Provide coaching, observations, feedback, and professional development Support onboarding and document observations Observations & Quality Assurance Hold biweekly coaching sessions and track teacher progress Monitor classroom safety, organization, and educational quality Support licensing visits and required documentation Child & Family Support Oversee developmental progress and individualized learning support Assist with family communication and parent conferences Partner with the Center Director and provide classroom support as needed Qualifications
REQUIRED
Education:
Associate's degree (or higher) in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education or related field
REQUIRED
Leadership Experience:
At least 1-year of experience as a Assistant Director, Director, Program Coordinator, Team Lead, etc. in a licensed Early Childhood Education facility
REQUIRED
Teaching Experience:
At least 1-year of Early Childhood Education (birth to 5-years-old) teaching experience Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations - for Infant and Young Toddler Teachers, must be able to properly lift infants into and out of a crib Must meet background check eligibility
