Preschool Director/Teacher

Overview We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Preschool Director to lead the daily operations of a DCFS-licensed early childhood program in Illinois. The Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) licensing standards, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, supporting staff development, and fostering strong relationships with families and the community. Our school is located at 2970 Tracy St. Seward, Illinois. Our planned class schedule will consist of 4-year-old class in the morning session and 3-year-old class in the afternoon from 8 am to 4 pm. Responsibilities Lead classroom activities by implementing comprehensive lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards. Develop and adapt curriculum materials that promote cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development tailored to diverse learning needs. Manage classroom environments through effective classroom management strategies, behavior management techniques, and age-appropriate discipline approaches. Collaborate with families to communicate children's progress, address concerns related to child welfare or special education needs, and foster positive relationships. Supervise and mentor teaching staff and assistants to ensure high-quality childcare and preschool experience while maintaining compliance with safety regulations. Prepare for and manage DCFS inspections, audits, and licensing renewals Maintain accurate records, including children's files, incident reports, and staff credentials Proven experience in preschool teaching or childcare roles with a strong background in childhood development principles. Must meet Illinois DCFS qualifications for Child Care Director Minimum of 2-3 years of leadership experience in a licensed childcare setting Strong knowledge of DCFS licensing standards and compliance requirements CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain) Preferred Skills Strong conflict resolution and team-building abilities Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field Familiarity with child assessment tools and curriculum planning
