Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Preschool Lead Teacher to inspire young learners and foster a nurturing, engaging, and educational environment. As the cornerstone of our early childhood education team, you will lead classroom activities, develop curriculum plans, and support the holistic growth of children in your care. Responsibilities To offer a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of both the individual and the group Follow the Policy and procedure manual and Parent Handbook To interact with the children and to encourage their involvement in activities To prepare a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean and appealing and permits the child to grow and to explore Maintain accident reports Maintain confidentiality Report any suspect abuse to director Keep all appropriate records such as daily progress sheets, attendance and time sheets Maintain meal count sheets for food program To plan with other teachers daily lesson plans based on The Learning Tree of Wellsboro curriculum outline which is in-line with PA Early Learning Standards (Creative Curriculum). A minimum of 15 to 30 minutes per day will be provided free from children to accomplish. To establish and maintain good communications with parents though parent conferences twice a year and on a daily informal basis To observe record and report significant individual and group behavior To use appropriate and positive discipline To attend monthly staff meetings Provide assessments of the children meeting Prek Counts and STARS requirements. Follow Keystone STARS and PreK Counts (if PreK Counts Teacher) (see additional preK Counts Guidance) requirements for lessons, daily activities, and program implementation. Assist in teachers and aids evaluations Must meet Keystone STARS 4 and PreK counts staff qualifications (if PreK Counts Teacher) and requirements (see additional preK Counts Guidance) Assist in daily cleanliness of facility Reports to the Director Follow Director's directionsLimits of Authority Must discuss decisions and have agreement of the board of director and director. Level VI or higher on the career lattice (see index) and hold a valid ECE Pennsylvania teacher certificate if PreK Counts Teacher. Meet DPW, Prek Counts, and Keystone STAR 4 qualifications and responsibilities (see index). Active health assessment (every two years) Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children Evidence of emotional maturity and stability Evidence of sufficient security and judgment to handle crisis situations and to use supervision constructively Physical stamina Ability to recognize and to record significant individual and group behavior Ability to supervise aides and other personnel Skills Extensive experience in early childhood education with a strong background in preschool settings. Proficiency in curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom management techniques. Knowledge of special education strategies and early intervention approaches to support diverse learners. Familiarity with Montessori methods, literacy education, math instruction, and teaching physical education. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with children, parents, and team members. Ability to manage behavior positively while creating an engaging learning environment. Experience working with toddlers or in daycare or private school environments is highly desirable. Strong understanding of childhood development principles and child welfare practices.
