TITLE:
Preschool Teacher Full-Time
REPORTS TO
Building Principal Position Purpose Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes, addressing specific educational needs of individual students, and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. Essential Functions Implements the GOLD curriculum aligned with district goals and Iowa Early Learning Standards using developmentally appropriate practice. Creates a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that supports play-based learning and whole-child development. Develops and delivers hands-on, center-based lesson plans that promote early literacy, numeracy, social-emotional growth, and independence. Uses ongoing observation and assessment (including GOLD) to monitor progress and adjust instruction to meet individual student needs, including those with IEPs. Teaches and models age-appropriate behavior, routines, and social skills to foster a positive learning environment. Maintains accurate student records, assessment data, and family communication in compliance with district and state requirements. Builds strong partnerships with families through regular communication and conferences. Collaborates with preschool staff and support services to ensure high-quality programming. Supervises students during classroom activities, transitions, outdoor play, and daily routines to ensure safety. Administers required early childhood screenings and assessments according to district guidelines. Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate instructional practices. Knowledge of preschool curriculum, early literacy and numeracy foundations, and social-emotional learning. Knowledge of child assessment practices, including observational data collection and progress monitoring. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws related to early childhood education and special education. Skill in using student information systems and educational technology to support instruction and documentation. Ability to plan, organize, and manage a structured yet flexible preschool classroom environment. Ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with young children, families, and colleagues. Ability to reflect on practice and engage in continuous professional growth. Ability to build positive, cooperative relationships with students, families, and staff. Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Works in standard office and school building environments. Working indoors in classrooms, but sometimes teaching outdoors or supervising playgrounds Working closely with young children Exposure to diseases and infections, such as colds and influenza Exposure to loud sounds and high noise levels Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
Iowa State Certification in preschool with special education is required Education Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Masters Degree in related areas preferred. Experience Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels is preferred.
