Prevention Educator

Job Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to support prevention programming and grant requirements within the agency. The Prevention Educator serves as the face of the organization when in schools and providing educational programming throughout the community - on an individual or group basis - to youth and adults. This position is responsible for educating the young people in our community that are both developmentally appropriate and school acceptable. The Prevention Educator may be required to assist in other areas based on the needs of the agency. Each community member, client, and all members of the client's family, both related and not related, will be treated with respect and confidentiality will always be maintained by the person in this position. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Develop, implement and deliver prevention programming, including sexual and intimate partner violence prevention sessions, to students, teachers and staff, at preschools, elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. Assist in the presentation of prevention programs via training and workshops to community groups, businesses and organizations as part of the Prevention Team. Maintain accurate statistics and reports related to program and participants and ensure database is up-to-date Provide community outreach during breaks in school calendar and during the summer months Creating and assisting with social media of the agency Implement new programs in the community Create program opportunities by building and maintaining relationships with community groups to assure ongoing presentation of prevention programming during the entire year, including summer months Ensure that all programming is current and utilizes up-to-date materials and methods to connect and challenge program participants. Use electronic devices and evaluation tools in presentations to ensure record of participation and feedback

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide back-up assistance in answering the phones under the direction of the Prevention Coordinator and/or Office Coordinator as needed. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings. Serve on a board committee. Serve on community coalitions as needed. Participate in the planning and implementation of events offered by New Directions, as well as attend scheduled events Meet reporting deadlines, including maintaining accurate statistics and reports. Provide information to Outreach & Grants Coordinator as needed. Attend training, conferences, webinars, etc. to maintain professional development requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, sociology or a related field. Experience presenting to youth in schools and/or adults in businesses is preferred.
