Job Summary Principal Controls & Automation Engineer If you enjoy building systems from the ground up, owning outcomes, and seeing your work come to life in real-world operations, this role offers a rare opportunity to lead full lifecycle automation for large-scale industrial plants. What You'll Do Own end-to-end controls architecture and design Build PLC/DCS logic, SCADA, and HMI systems Lead commissioning from installation to startup Develop reusable automation tools and standards Partner with engineering and operations teams Why This Role Stands Out Full ownership from design to commissioning Hands-on field leadership and execution Opportunity to build scalable, repeatable systems Direct impact on plant performance and output What You Bring 10+ years of controls and automation experience Strong PLC/DCS and SCADA expertise Proven commissioning and startup leadership Ability to work both strategically and hands-on Job Skills PLC/DCS programming (Rockwell, Siemens, Honeywell, etc.) SCADA, HMI, historian development Industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC, DNP) Controls architecture & system design Commissioning & startup leadership Electrical panel design & IO architecture Root cause analysis & system troubleshooting Documentation and technical writing Field execution and hands-on troubleshooting Job Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience Job Responsibilities Own full controls architecture (PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI) Lead hardware/software selection and system design Develop PLC logic, SCADA dashboards, and HMI interfaces Create reusable automation standards and libraries Design network and control system infrastructure Lead installation, loop checks, and commissioning Interface with OEMs and internal teams Ensure safety compliance and enforce field standards Deliver end-to-end plant startup and performance Job Requirements 10+ years industrial controls experience Experience commissioning full plant systems Expertise in PLC/DCS platforms (2+ systems preferred) Strong knowledge of industrial protocols Ability to travel and work onsite extensively Hands-on field experience with installation/startup Job Experience 10+ years controls/automation engineering Experience in power, energy, or industrial plants Proven commissioning leadership from build to startup Experience delivering scalable automation solutions
Pay:
$80.00 - $105.00 per hour
