Job Summary We are seeking a Principal Radar Systems Engineer to own system-level design and performance of advanced radar systems. Responsibilities include requirements system and sub-system interface definitions, architecture development, trade studies, and system verification. This role requires strong experience in radar systems and the ability to lead technical efforts across signal processing, electrical, mechanical, and software domains.
Primary Responsibilities:
Analyze radar performance based on an understanding of the following:
Radar Fundamentals:
radar range equation, radar cross-section, pulsed and continuous wave radar, FMCW, waveform design, target characteristics
Radar Signal Processing:
pulse compression, range-Doppler processing, windowing, angle-of-arrival estimation, detection and estimation, target tracking, target characteristic estimation
Antenna and RF Systems:
EIRP, radiation patterns, beamforming, noise figure, RF front-end concepts, waveform generation
Electronics:
digital and analog circuitry, signal conditioning, data converters (ADC/DAC), power and timing considerations, compute architecture design
Software/Firmware :
embedded systems, real-time processing, hardware/software interfacing, RTOS, multithreading and concurrency, memory management, signal processing implementation, communication protocols, GNSS synchronization Lead integration of radar subsystems into larger systems Perform quantitative analysis of radar performance metrics for detection and tracking ranges, angle-of-arrival estimation accuracy, target characteristics estimation, multi-radar interference and more Develop, refine, and manage system requirements Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams Plan, define, and execute verification and validation activities across system lifecycle phases Ensure all requirements are verified through analysis, inspection, demonstration, or testing Drive validation efforts to confirm system performance meets operational needs Define and implement a clear, scalable testing philosophy and strategy (lab, integration, and field) Contribute to continuous improvement of test methodologies and frameworks Author, review, and release formal test plans, procedures, and test reports Conduct indoor and outdoor radar testing, including field deployments in varied environments Coordinate test resources, instrumentation, and logistics for field campaigns Troubleshoot system performance issues and drive root-cause analysis Implement disciplined, well-organized data storage and tracking practices
Requirements:
Education and Required Skills/Experience:
Masters's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or related field Strong understanding of radar theory and radar signal processing Experience with verification and validation processes Hands-on experience with test planning and execution Proficiency in scripting/programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data analysis Ability to work in outdoor field environments and travel as needed

Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality, reliability, and repeatability in testing. Highly analytical with strong debugging and root cause analysis skills. Proactive and collaborative when working with cross-functional engineering teams.
