Job Description

The City of Monterey Park is looking for a Principal Human Resources Analyst to join our team. Our ideal candidate is a fun and collaborative team player, comfortable working in a high-volume environment.
PANEL INTERVIEWS ARE TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, MAY 28, 2026
Under the general administrative direction of the Director of Human Resources and Risk Management or Human Resources/Risk Management Manager, this position performs a variety of professional, technical, and administrative duties to support the services of Human Resources and Risk Management Divisions. The Principal Human Resources Analyst assists with oversight of the daily work for the department and will perform complex analytical work in coordinating, monitoring, and overseeing recruitment and selections processes, employee relations, workers' compensation, benefits administration, leave administration, general liability, and training programs.

Four (4) years of progressively responsible and varied experience in administrative, budgetary, human resources, or risk management, including at least two years in a governmental agency. A Master's degree in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field is highly desirable. Licenses and Certifications Possession of a valid Class "C" California Motor Vehicle Operator's license is required at the time of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment. Applicants with legal disabilities who require special testing arrangements must contact the Human Resources Department at least five (5) days prior to the examination date. New hire candidates must show proof of full Covid vaccinations prior to being hired. Limited exemptions may apply.
